All The Things She Said – Poppy

I had never heard of Poppy until I found this cover song this past summer. I have heard some of her other songs which are OK to interesting, like her heavy metal songs. This Tatu song is a good song, but other than a little more rock and a little less synth, the two versions are nearly indistinguishable. I’d probably just stick to the original.

Devil Went Down to Georgia – Korn

The last two bands I saw live before everything was shut down in 2020 was Korn, and The Charlie Daniels Band. So this cover is especially cool to me, having seen them both live. Korn doesn’t dissappoint with this cover and adds their own twist to the song. But sitting in the 2nd row watching Charlie Daniels at 80 something years old belt this song out was amazing.

Misery Business – Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker

As a fan of Machine Gun Kelly, the rapper, I find myself being a fan of Machine Gun Kelly, the punk singer as well. Of course, having Travis Barker be part of your band wins a few points with me as well. Since Paramore won’t play the song anymore I guess it’s a good thing these guys took it up. Other than a different gendered singer, the song isn’t too much different from the original, but I’m still kinda glad MGK didn’t rap this song.

Patience – Chris Cornell

In case you haven’t realized by now, I like grunge. Especially Soundgrden and Alice in Chains. Chris Cornell is of course the lead singer of soundgarden (and Audioslave) and does some fantastic solo work, including a bunch of cover songs. This cover is of the Guns and Roses song Patience and is every bit as good as I expect from Cornell.
